Extend Your Living Space

Upgrading your landscape with a patio not only increases your living space and curb appeal,  but is also a great way to enhance your property’s value.

While interior decor and design concepts can go out of style, plants grow fuller and more robust as the years go by and hardscape can be permanent.

First impressions are important, and when a buyer sees your home for the first time, the condition of the landscape is the first measure of how well the property has been cared for.

A well-conceived design that doesn’t require significant maintenance is ideal. Add splashes of color with potted flowers and install budget-friendly solar lighting for a bit of drama and a welcoming ambiance.

For this DIY project, the cost was moderate as the field of the patio is constructed of inexpensive “Box Store” pavers.   A palette of decorative pavers refined the space with borders and an accent feature in the fireplace area.

Approximate cost of materials $3500.

DON’T REPLACE…REPURPOSE!

Over time, trends change and with them, often does our taste.  Although transitioning to a new look can sometimes be costly, it doesn’t have to be the case!

If you don’t mind rolling up your sleeves and investing in a can of paint, you can accomplish amazing transformations!

Paint is one of the least expensive ways to prompt big changes.

Remember shabby chic?  That wonderfully nostalgic and comfy, cozy look that so many of us enjoyed for its casual sophistication….

Current design trends have moved toward a cleaner look.  Some simple shifts can give your space a new and refreshed feeling.

This little project adapted a formerly “shabby chic” armoire to a “modern farmhouse” vibe with new paint color and updated hardware.  The scale of the handles adds a bit of subtle drama.

Total cost was less than $60!
